Town Fire Protection

New York State law determines the geographic boundaries of fire
districts. Three Fire Departments provide fire protection in the Town
of Rhinebeck, Hillside, Rhinebeck, and Rhinecliff. The Rhinebeck Fire
Department, located in the Village and a department of village
government, receives funds from the Town via a contract and serves part
of the town's "fire protection district." The Hillside and Rhinecliff
fire companies receive taxes from residents of their districts and
funds from the Town under a contract for fire protection within other
sections of the Rhinebeck "fire protection district."
