FREE TAX PREPARATION ASSISTANCE
EITC/VITA Tax Preparation Project
Now in its ninth tax season, the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) in collaboration with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), has worked to establish Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites in local social services agencies. By having taxes prepared at a VITA site, low and moderate income families can have their taxes prepared and e-filed at no cost, receive all the refunds and tax credits to which they are entitled, and they avoid the temptation of high interest rate "refund anticipation loans."
