THREE SOLAR PROJECTS OPERATIONAL - VIEW ENERGY SAVINGS

TOWN'S SOLAR PROJECTS OPERATIONAL

The Town of Rhinebeck is pleased to announce that it has completed the installation of solar panels at three locations - the Town Highway Garage, the Transfer Station and the Town Hall. The solar panels are generating electricity for use at these facilities.

The solar panels at the Highway Garage and Transfer Station are generating more electricity than is being consumed at these facilities.  The solar panels at the Town Hall are expected to generate about half of the electric usage at that facility.

In addition, there has been an interior lighting upgrade at the Town Hall and Highway Garage, sponsored by Central Hudson Gas & Electric.  Further, additional work is scheduled to be done pursuant to another NYSERDA grant for the installation of programmable thermostats and light switch motion detectors at the Highway Garage.

The Town received grants for 80% of the costs of these solar projects from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority ("NYSERDA") which received funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.
