Grasmere Landscape Architecture Plan

A subcommittee of the Cemetery Committee will be formed. It will also include Steve Mensch, Meg Crawford and Mike Trimble, assuming they are all willing to participate. It will be know as the Grasmere Cemetery Beautification Committee.

Committee Operation: The committee will choose a chairperson from the membership and will meet monthly or more frequently if needed.

Committee Goal: The committee is chartered to develop a "master plan" for improving the Grasmere section of the Town's cemetery by May 1, 2009. The plan will specify a global plan for the Grasmere section that will be broken into a number of phased plans, each of which is to be consistent with the global plan.

The global plan will provide recommendations concerning:

Landscaping for the global plan and each phase.

Visual esthetics from the adjacent roads and driveways

Visual esthetics from within the cemetery

Consideration of human needs such as benches and shade

Adequate parking for visitors

Availability of water within the grounds

Grounds keeping maintenance consideration

Cemetery plot layouts including mausoleums

Rules and regulations for the Grasmere Section

Planning and archeological requirements

Development schedule for each phase

The committee will develop an implementation plan consisting of:

Defined deliverable(s)

Recruiting appropriate expertise

Funding strategy

Schedule for crating the above beautification plan.
