Sewer Treatment Plant for 20,000 s/f Shopping Center

The Town of Rhinebeck Planning Board has approved a proposed 20,000 s/f, two-story mixed-occupancy shopping center with ninety-nine parking spaces and related site improvements on a 7.7-acre parcel on Route 9G between Rhinebeck Ford and IXL. A Sewer Treatment plant has been designed to replace the previously proposed subsurface sanitary sewage disposal system. The public is invited to make written comments to the DEC in regards to the State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permit for the site.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has made a tentative determination to issue a State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit (SPDES permit no. NY-0274828) for the surface discharge of 4000 gallons per day (gpd) of sanitary wastewater to an unnamed tributary of Rhinebeck Kill (Class C) from a proposed 20,000 square foot commercial building. A wastewater treatment plant is to be constructed on site to facilitate the discharge. A draft permit is available for inspection and comment at the DEC Region 3 office.

OPPORTUNITY for PUBLIC COMMENT:
Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than AUGUST 13, 2010.
