Conservation Advisory Council (CAC)
Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP)
Town of Rhinebeck
April 3, 2008 7:00 pm

Present: Members of CAC/LWRP: Meg Crawford, Lisa Camp, Bill Dowden, Gloria Fox, Tess Mckellen, Sharon Sherrod, and Carol Smith
Absent/Excused: Ryan Dowden, Marcus Mello, and Dan Staley-Town Board liaison
Guests: Raphael Notin, Joel Tyner, Sheila Buff and 3 members of Red Hook’s CAC

New Business:
Sheila Buff of Milan presented to the CAC a proposal to form a watershed organization to oversee the streams that are located in the northwestern part of the county based on similar organizations that cover the Wappingers Creek watershed, the Ten Mile River watershed and Fishkill Creek watershed. A notice will be placed on the web site asking for Volunteers from the community to work on this. Sheila will get a map from Cornell Coop. Ext to show all the streams in the area.

Lisa spoke about the town web site and the listing of CAC announcements, events, files and possible future listing of educational notices.

Planning Board Project Review:
The following have previously been reviewed by the CAC
The Rhinebeck Cemetery: Mill Road
The former Grand Union building
Rhinecliff Hotel
Mensch pond

Zoning Board Project Review: No reviews at this meeting

Old Business:
1.Gloria reported that the NRI should be completed within a month.
2.Areas in the village have been identified for trees to be planted.
3. The tree ordinance has been presented to the Village board
4. Lisa and Meg reported on the riparian buffer along the Landsman Kill in
the Mini Park. Planting have arrived. The tree will be planted in
the spring and the shrubs in the fall.
5. Carol reported that the picnic shelter plans are almost ready for
resubmission to the CAC

Announcements:
April 20 Dutch Reform Church Environmental Fair
May 3 tree planting in the village along Route 9 and East Market Street
May 23-25 Mystic Whaler will be at the town landing in Rhinecliff
July 12- concert at the town landing in Rhinecliff
August 16 Waterfront Day at the town landing in Rhinecliff
