Regular Meeting

Town Councilman/Liaison: Bruce Washburn
Present: Johnny LeHane (Chair), Tom Connolly, Svend Beecher,
Rhonda Hammond, Sarah Rifenburgh, David Miller and Henry deVries and
Linda Souers

Call to Order at 7:00 pm

NEW BUSINESS
> Motion made by Tom and seconded by Sarah to approve the minutes of
January 30, 2008. Motion carried. Rhonda will email to
Barbara Cunningham.
> Discussion of Recreation Director's resignation and who will be
responsible for certain areas in the interim. Bruce will have Karri's
email forwarded to him or the town office. Her cell phone calls
have been forwarded to the town clerk.
Gymnastics: Johnny will stop by and speak to Katie
Basketball: Bruce will follow-up with coaches for final reports
Egg Hunt: Rhonda and Sarah will coordinate
Interviewing for seasonal help: Henry will coordinate
Brochure: Bruce will follow-up and send out to committee draft for review.
Registration Day: Date has been set for April 26, 2008 9-12. Further information to be discussed at next meeting.
> Recreation Director job description has been updated and given to the Town Clerk's office.
> Discussion of interim Director: Liz Irwin has voiced to Tom
that she might be interested in helping out. Bruce will contact
her. Also Allyson Peluso who put her application in for Pool
Director will be contacted to see if she has any interest in the
Recreation Director position. Bruce advised two applications have
been received but position must be open for 30-60 days before hiring
can be done.
> Pool schedule was rehashed and we will use 2007's schedule except
for aerobics and adult swim. Johnny will send to Rhonda to make
updates then she will send around for comment before sending to Bruce
for approval of board. Bruce will also work on the signage.
> David discussed pool area painting. He will get estimates and it was agreed that the lifeguards would do the work.
> Senior game nights will not go on brochure. Bruce will speak
to Tom Traudt about having the Committee for Ageing handle this program.
> Bruce sent everyone Recreation Committee by-laws from
2/14/77. All committee members thought it looked good.
Bruce was then given Chairman Title and Johnny was appointed Vice
Chairman (Rhonda motioned and Svend seconded – unanimous vote), Rhonda
was appointed Secretary (Johnny motioned and Tom seconded all in favor
– unanimous vote.)
> Our mini-grant application was denied – will leave to future director to work on.
> Basketball Courts – Henry will work on getting estimates.

TOWN BOARD LIASON REPORT (Bruce)
> Bruce advised we would move on from Red Hook Bagels and possibly
in future take them to small claims court. Bruce went to the pool
area and found tiles in the showers broken this will need to be taken
care of. The windows were ordered for the concession area per
Henry.
> High dive is down and the 1-meter board has been ordered.
> Pool facilities are in need of huge repair. We will need to
first get them in a safe zone. We will need a meeting to discuss
how we will go about funding the repairs.
> Concession vendors. Bruce spoke to Rhinebeck Deli and they
might be interested in taking over. Also other vendors should be
approached. Henry and Rhonda agreed to work on this.
> Bruce advised we need to think of appointing a Treasurer to the committee.

TOM – FIELDS
> Tom advised that Bobby has cleared the brush at Stone Church Fields.
> Steve Bouchet, the modified baseball coach will send Tom schedule for this spring season.
THOMPSON MAZZARELLA PARK
> David advised that an environmental impact study was sent to Albany and hoping to hear something by March 20, 2008.
> A meeting between the Recreation Committee and the T-M Park committee is set for March 19th at town hall at 7:00

Concession Building $1,100
